I am a music educator who has taught kindergarten through college from Detroit to Korea.  My philosophy of music education is this: my contract says music teacher, not director.  Thus, I approach my lessons with the goal to help my students first develop critical thinking skills, a positive sense-of-self , and the strategies to persevere long enough to reach their goals.  We just happen to do this through learning to play instruments.

Currently, I teach at Anderson Elementary School in Trenton, Michigan and Detroit Waldorf School in Detroit, Michigan.  My previous appointments include Korea International School Jeju Campus, Korea and the Jeju Symphony Orchestra in Jeju-do, Korea.

Why Study with Me?

I like to think that, simply put, I provide each of my students with the perfect lesson for them.  I take into account your motivations and sticking points to create a custom course to grow as a musician the fastest you can.  Is your goal to sit first chair in the school band?  Great, I can give you the strategies to make that happen.  Do you HATE scales? Me too, let's find the tricks to never have to worry about them again!

I bring 15 years of private instruction experience with the find the best course of action for you!
